real

The lower mainland has some of the richest soil in Canada and much of it is covered by acres of glass.

This image (comprised of 12 photos from a glass farm off highway 99) exemplifies the transition from “the earth”, to environment controlled realities, mechanization and automation, nutrition management and hydroponics, genetic modification and so on, and so on, and so on…

    lol.
I thought, “this person must be crazy to be able to endure such a tedious clean ups”

but well, you did and you did it well~
to sum it up, i love your panorama…

  5. what is the effect of the glass covering on the soil – i assume it’s bad, but i’m not sure why?

  6. i have been doing a bit of research to respond to your question but alas was overwhelmed by the amount of information on other agricultural issues. So…here is the way i see it: the glass greenhouses are visually unappealing, I worry about the methods in which crops are grown within this glass environment, and if they can indeed be a viable and healthy alternative to agriculture….rather than placing them on rich soil that could be used for organic farming (which is strongly recommended by all reports that I read), wouldn’t it make sense to place these structures on land that has no other type of agricultural value? Today, we are still in a position to grow healthy food, off the land, but other geographical areas may not be…i am curious to know if these types of controlled environments are placed mostly on farmland?
